Calvary Adelaide Hospital Official Blessing and Opening, 10 March 2020

The new Calvary Adelaide Hospital with its state-of-the-art facilities is the largest private hospital in South Australia. Specialising in acute medical and surgical care, it is one of South Australia’s largest providers of orthopaedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical services. The hospital is the only private provider of 24/7 accident and emergency care.

The Official Blessing and Opening was held on Tuesday, 10 March.  This special event commenced with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country led by Jack Buckskin.

The Most Reverend Greg O’Kelly SJ AM, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Adelaide gave the Homily and conducted the Blessing, including sprinkling Holy Water around the chapel and at the entrance of the hospital, “so that all who enter herein may receive respect and care, healing we pray, and always some experience of the compassion of Christ”.

His Excellency General, The Honourable David John Hurley, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia was due to conduct the official opening however was unfortunately a late apology.

Representing Calvary Ministries at this event were Members’ Council Chair, Sr Anne Sheridan LCM and Member, Sr Judith Barwick LCM,  Trustee Board Chair, The Hon. Michael Lee, all Trustees and Executive Officer.
